Matcha, kombucha, premium loose leaf; tea has come in out of the cold and joined the trendy ranks.

2015 is going to be tea’s time to step out of the shadow of coffee and shine. Starbucks and other big coffee companies are eagerly reaching for the teapot as they seek to invest heavily in tea.

We now have as many varieties of tea in our cupboards as we do jars of creams and potions in our bathrooms. From Get-up-and-Goji berry to Lemon Caipirinha Green Tea, the choice is elaborate and sometimes unpronounceable!


One of the newest flavours on the block this year is toast- flavoured tea. This could be the start of one of the most beautiful pairings since Cadbury poured chocolate over the kimberly biscuit.


Of all the tea trends so hot right now, the hardest to get your Mam to sample might well be kombucha, which is a fermented tea, made from combining live bacterias and yeasts with sugar and tea, and allowing the mix to ferment. Doesn’t exactly sound like you’ll be dipping your digestive biscuit in this one.
